Summer '16

It's been a brilliantly eventful summer.

Things kicked off with the beautiful humanist wedding of the new Mr and Mrs Barker. The ceremony took place at the gorgeous Gilmerton House in East Kilbride which was a delight to sing in.

Next, we traveled to Kronach in Germany with the Portsoy Pipe Band. The Kronach town is twinned with historical Banffshire in North East Scotland and the relationship has flourished over the past years with many exchanges. We spent a week singing and dancing at various venues in Bavaria alongside the band for the beer and shooting festival 'Schützenfest'. Highlights definitely included taking part in the official procession around Kronach, the open air performance for landrat Oswald Marr and the white water rafting.

Shortly after this trip, Cait unfortunately broke her back jumping off a sand dune on her way to the Feis Rois 24hr session event at which a Scot's Song Session was being held by Annie and Iona Fyfe. Luckily, this did not stop Cait from leading an amazing project in Huntly where she went round local Old Folk's homes collecting old nursery rhymes and skipping songs which she then taught to music groups within the community. This material was then used to record a CD called 'Nickum' and will be available later this year. Thank you to Mick for his involvement in this.
